As the weather gets warmer, spring sports are starting, dance recitals and musical rehearsals get going I will try to have the students finish their math homework in school. I will still write it on the homework sheet just in case, but will likely complete it in class. I will still have spelling packets. This is a good way for them to study and review for their weekly tests.
Spelling packets will come home on Mondays and are due on Friday. At this point in the year when children are writing their sentence for their test I am looking for beginning letter capitalized, end punctuation, and correctly spelled words. I keep it very basic and these are words they have been using since kindergarten and should already know.
In math we are on Chapter 9: Two-Dimensional Shapes and Equal Shares. Vocabulary words for this chapter are circle, composite shape, equal parts, fourths, halves, rectangle, side, square, trapezoid, triangle, two-dimensional shape, vertex, and whole. The class is really enjoying this chapter.
In science we are talking about living and non living things. This will lead nicely into our plant unit. We will be doing some experiments with plants and colors very soon!
Our June Field Trips are scheduled for Tuesday, June 11th (zoo) & Monday, June 17th (Owasco Playground). More information and permission slips will be coming home.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I am always available.
